The inhabitants of a small, isolated Frisian village are open to social changes and decide to buy a house for a large Syrian refugee family and welcome them in their strong community. The expectations of the villagers and those of the family seem to be conflicting. After one year of trying, the family decides to move away to a bigger city, but the two oldest teenage sons want to stay. Can they make it work? World history takes place at village level.
